WAI MUN CHUI, IES

Wai Mun holds a Master of Science degree in Lighting from the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York. His undergraduate training was in Architectural and Civil Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining BPI in 2008, he worked as a lead lighting designer in several renowned lighting design firms.

Mr. Chui has extensive experience on projects throughout the United States and Asia, including large-scale corporate buildings, educational and cultural institutions, museums and exhibitions, and hospitality and retail establishments. Projects Wai Mun was involved with prior to BPI include renovation of United Nations Headquarters (General Assembly Building and Conference Building), renovation of the Winter Garden and Zuccotti Park (both were destroyed on 9/11), Seattle Central Library, and Prada Epicenter stores in New York and Beverly Hills. Currently, he is Partner-in-Charge of over a dozen large scale high rise and mixed-use development projects in major cities in China, including Shanghai, Shenyang, Wuxi, and Guangzhou, as well as several in the United States.

For his work, Wai Mun has received several prominent lighting design awards, including the International Illumination Design Award (IIDA) Edwin F. Gulf Award of Excellence for the American Express Exhibition at the World Financial Center in New York, GE Edison Award of Merit for lighting the Prada Epicenter store in New York and Award of Sustainable Design for the Seattle Central Library.
