CHOU LIEN, IES, IALD
Chou Lien holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sculpture from the National Art Institute, a Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Mr. Chou joined BPI in 1978. As Design Partner since 1986, he has been involved in the schematic design and custom fixture design for virtually every project in the office. He was president of the firm from 2001 to 2009, and has been Partner-in-Charge on a wide variety of award winning projects in the United States and world-wide.
He taught lighting design in the MFA degree program at the Parsons School of Design in New York City for sixteen years and has been the head instructor for the Industrial Technology Research Institute lighting design and energy conservation program since 1994. He has also lectured internationally on a wide variety of lighting-related topics. He is a member of both the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD). He is a Founding Member and honorary chairperson of the board at the Asian Lighting Design Association, a Founding Member of the Taiwan Association of Light Environment and a Special Member of the China Illuminating Engineering Society.
